Heart rendered useless
Ripped
Into tiny pieces
Shredded like cheddar in the grater
Not much greater feeling right now.
I am spent.

You beat me with words
You flailed me with defenses
You ignored me and then
When I was open
You built fences.

I try to find the gate
I try to find the way
You slam the window shut
and your heart won’t let me stay

You push push push
You push love away
You want me to be your puppet

But you forget
They’re not so real
Just fake little painted on smiles
To make the passing of painful miles
And eyes of glass and glaze,
Withdraw
From painful past and passing days,
