Clutter
I took the purse
and dumped its contents upside down
I heard the clank of keys and bills
as all my stuff went tumbling to the ground
Picked up the bills I’d not yet paid
and the change I’d thrown in without a thought
Looked at the goals I’d not yet made
and all the stuff I’d bought
and wondered why with so much clutter in my life
I felt so emptied out of all the strife
and all the love
and all the life.
Picked up the wallet
and the change
and all the notes
and numbers of the friends
and rearranged
the stuff back inside
my purse
and went along my way
Maybe I’ll clean
it all out
Throw it all out
someday.
