I have lived my life from the inside out for years. If I have a challenge in the outer world, the first thing I do is go within and check out my beliefs and my vibration. I am ruthlessly and relentlessly honest with myself to the best of my ability. And if I’m not in a happy space, I figure it must be some negative belief messing me up. I dive inside myself, have a look around, and make some changes, because I know that no outer cure to any problem will ever truly fix it. It is only in healing our vibration, our thoughts and beliefs, and our behaviors, that we truly change our lives.

Take the case of the mighty mite infestation that hit my dogs earlier this year. It was a problem that had to be solved from the inside out. Only dogs with weakened immune systems get skin parasites. And my lovely shaman dog likes to suck negative energy off me so I was certain that this was the root cause of the problem. I had gotten worn down and forgot to refill the well and so I was taking on other people’s energies as well. My dearest husky wolf, again, provided quite the mirror.

The first round of mites were easily eliminated by giving the dogs baths three times a week, and while dragging two large canines into the tub after work isn’t my first choice for a perfect evening, we made it fun, sang “scrub a dub tub” songs, and got the job done. When that passed, however, I still hadn’t gotten the lesson in my own life and so God blessed us with mites that wouldn’t drown! I am still feeling very lucky that they weren’t transferable to humans!

By this time it was obvious that I needed to fix myself first before anything would change, so as you’ve heard, I dove back into my spiritual practices, had a friend clear the house, and got a past life regression that once and for all cured me of taking on the ills of others. Nonetheless, previous creations don’t always disappear suddenly when you make your internal changes. Sometimes you have bless the mess you created, then clean it up before you can move forward!

Suffice it to say that “mighty mite cleanup night” was one that will go down in my personal comedic history book! The angels were very specific with their instructions. Lock the dogs in the bathroom, start the laundry and wash everything they slept on. Pour borax on all the carpets. Go back in the bathroom and give both dogs an oil massage with every bottle of apricot kernel oil you can find in Phoenix, and since I ran out, most of my good olive oil as well! The dogs loved it! Who wouldn’t enjoy a half hour hot oil spa massage!! You truly haven’t lived until you’ve seen a smiling, slipping, sliding husky wolf and a labrador skidding around in total glistening glee. That was only part A!

Part B involved leaving oiled dogs in the bathroom while they oiled the bathroom walls and vacuuming up the borax while finishing the wash. Then I had to go back and wash both oiled dogs which was, in and of itself, quite the adventure!! In the midst of this, the vacuum broke and I ended up finishing the job with an old vacuum whose only working part was a 1″ hose!!!

Now there are two ways to look at such a wild night – break down into tears, feel victimized, and decide all my positive actions and thoughts weren’t working or, embrace truth. Truth said, “Ann dear, you created this and you’re cleaning it up because you fixed your inner self and now you are done with the outer mess too.” I chose truth! I sat down when the vacuum broke, looked at the chaos and started to laugh uproariously. “Surrender Ann! Surrender!” I told myself. I took a few breaths, laughed some more and proceeded with the cleanup. When I stepped back to look at the whole mess, it WAS funny.

So if you have already worked really hard to change your thoughts, beliefs, and vibration and things still aren’t working – you may just be in cleanup mode! I swear the old beliefs always take one last stand before they die off in our minds, trying to live in spite of our best efforts. I totally could have started feeling sorry for myself that night but to what avail? Being a victim isn’t my choice! Far better to say, I’m just cleaning up my mess and moving forward.

If you’ve done the growth and things still aren’t working yet, stay on course. Don’t waver in your expectation of good. Pray for guidance to clean up the messes in front of you and trust, that you have sent out new direction to the universe and it is only a matter of time until it gets reflected back in a glorious way. And whatever you do don’t beat yourself up for the past! That is self-defeating behavior. Instead give thanks that you’ve found a new and better way to think and feel.

When you pray for something, whatever inside yourself that isn’t working must be revealed and healed for your prayers to come true. So rather thangiving up or feeling victimized when life doesn’t work, just dive deep, go within, route out all those old negative beliefs and stay steady in your new positive outlook – no matter what – until your life inevitably begins to change 🙂
