Golden milk is an anti-inflammatory and highly soothing ayurvedic drink that can relax you before before bedtime. If you don’t do dairy, substitute any other type of milk and then sip and relax while it works its magic.
3 cups any kind of milk – dairy, almond, coconut, etc.
1/2 t tumeric
1/2 t ceylon cinnamon
2 peppercorns
3/4″ diced fresh ginger or 1/2 t powdered
2 cardamom pods or 1/8 t powdered cardamom
1/8 t allspice, any form
2 cloves
1 t ghee (clarified butter) – optional
1-2 t honey, maple syrup or other sweetner – optional
Combine all ingredients except honey or sweetener. Heat on medium on stovetop, stirring frequently so the milk doesn’t burn for about 5 minutes, then turn on low and let simmer 10 more to really blend flavors. Stir in sweetener and then strain, sip, enjoy!
Makes 2 servings. You can refrigerate the second one for tomorrow if you like and reheat.
Dear Ann,I love you very much and reading to go on your writings and everything But I could not understand that, how can you use butter and dairy cow milk in your recipe? I think you know these products are produced from animals with/by many torture technics…
with my deep love ,and yours sincerely
Dear Mehmet, you have a very good point, and I asked the angels long ago about such issues. They advised me, when I do use things that I can’t control easily to pray for everyone involved and that the animals be treated more fairly. They said the animals actually choose to incarnate as food animals but wish for us to be praying that they be treated ethically. Many of my choices are not perfect. I do my best to check my sources for ethical treatment. With love and respect, Ann
