SLIDE ROCK

Slide Rock

Sedona, AZ

Slide Rock is a Sedona landmark where the creek flows through a long slippery set of rocks. Hop in and let the current carry you.

Although the park is often jam-packed with people you can easily hike and rock hop upstream to find peace and seclusion.  You may have to walk in the water but during the summer, that’s part of the charm.

There are numerous pools, swimming holes, shaded glens, and places for a picnic. Find a rock near one of the natural whirlpool areas and let the water pull all the tension out of your feet.

In the summer, the water is clear and the flow is gentle. During winter or early spring runoff, it is too cold and too swift to enter.

A those time, enjoy the view, the sound of the rushing water, the spray, and perhaps a thermos of hot cocoa by the creek.

Slide Rock is beautiful in all seasons – Vibrant green forests in the spring and summer are dotted by color in the fall, then engulfed in mist or snow in the winter.

If you’re here in the winter, enjoy a silent walk in the park, accompanied only by the breeze, the babbling brook, and occasional bird song.

During swim season come early or late to avoid a long line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot, or park farther up the road and walk back to the entrance.
