We’ve had some pretty awe inspiring monsoon storms this year. Between blowing dust, 50-60mph winds, and torrential rains, the land takes a beating, then sings for joy. After the storms, the plants come to life. Flowers bloom. The landscape turns lush and green and the wildlife flourishes. In the desert, water is a blessing.
My yard was loving it. It flooded, drained a bit, then flooded again. It isn’t that unusual. The roses love it. The dragonflies were flitting around, and flocks of birds happily bathed in what I jokingly call “Lake Ann.” It never bothers me.
However, this year, the rains stopped, the pond didn’t disappear. I called my yard guys. They turned off the sprinklers and told me they’d be back in a week to fix everything after the pond evaporated. I felt fine. They always solve the problems. That was Saturday morning.
So, imagine my shock Saturday night when I picked up my water bill, ripped open the envelope and found myself staring at a charge that nearly rivaled my mortgage payment. Apparently I’d had a leak for quite some time!
I sat there in shock staring at that piece of paper with an unbelievably large number on it, as if it owned my entire life. My heart started racing. My brain ran away with crazy fears. Humorously I realized I’d just released a newsletter that morning on surrendering control! Clearly I was not in control at the moment.
What to do? It was too late to call the lawn guys. The following day was their day off. Water was flooding my lawn, but the sprinklers were off so the rest of my plants weren’t receiving water. Money was flowing up the drain. What if… what if… what if…
“Ann!” I caught my brain trying to take control and stopped immediately. I sat, breathed, and received. “God I know exactly where my energy was leaking up and out of me a few months ago so this is not a surprise. I’m no longer leaking. Let’s fix this!” I started to feel relief immediately . I sat, breathed, and received, until I everything in me relaxed…
A sudden inspiration to Google “water pumps” led me to the cutest little pump at Home Depot which could be plopped in a pond, and siphon water away via a hose. First thing Sunday, I was hauling my new “water bug” out to the “pond,” hooking it up to a hose, and allowing the large puddle to drain into the garden. Victory! Hours later the garden was well-watered and the pond was drained, and I actually had fun splashing around in the water in 110 degree temperatures.
Unfortunately, I woke up Monday morning with a new pond! My heart sank, my mind starting running away again, and again I caught myself. I gave the problem back to God, hauled the pump back out, and called the yard guys who graciously agreed to come out immediately.
There was nothing more I could do so I sat, breathed, and received. “What next God?” “Channel your newsletter,” popped into my head. It was on my to-do list but in the past I would have been too bothered to concentrate. So I sat, breathed, received, and the angels came flying through with their kind words, and loving embrace. Just as I finished, my yard “angels “knocked on the door. They immediately diagnosed the problem and stopped the leak until the system could be repaired. Mystery solved!
We’re all deeply human. No matter how much we know, we all have those moments when our mind tries to run away. Thankfully heaven is always there, gently trying to guide us back into the heart where we’re loved, guided, cared for, and blessed in so many ways!
I know how I manifested these leaks. In fact the symbolism makes me laugh. In my sprinkler system, the valves (which regulate water from the source) were broken and water was indiscriminately pouring out. I think my own valves were broken the past few years as I was indiscriminately pouring love and money into a situation that was emotionally and financially draining me too! Lesson learned… with humor, grace, and brand new valves!
Here are some pointers this week to help you deal with life’s chaos and get quickly back into flows of grace!
1. Bless the mess
Realize that whatever is in front of you is there to show you what you were manifesting in the past. It is not there to hurt you, nor does it dictate your future in any way, no matter how crazy it looks. Only your energy dictates your future. From this moment onward you can make different choices.
As the angels like to say, “Bless the mess, then decide what’s next.”
2. Sit. Breathe. Receive.
The angels emphasize this simple exercise all the time! It is the easiest way on earth to receive heavenly help and guidance. Breathing calms the central nervous system, balances the energy field, and allows the angels to give you constructive ideas as well as a tune up so your energy matches your desires moving forward.
This exercise is deceptively simple and extremely powerful. If you do it often, it can be a game changer in your life.
3. Wait and act only when guided
No matter how deeply fear wants to get you up and get you going, sit, breathe, receive, and go about your day until you receive clear guidance on how to solve your problems or suddenly know what to do next. Sometimes solutions come quickly. Sometimes the universe has a happy surprise for you that will appear later.
Acting when guided, or when you clearly know what to do is productive action. All else is just keeping busy to pacify a fearful ego.
We’re all in school here on earth. We’ll all create or allow chaos at times. The good news is that we can easily weather these storms by allowing the universe to help, and in the next moment, start to create so much better!
