The angels have been working with me for years to release expectations of myself and to just BE me in each moment. And over the years it has become fairly easy and a lot of fun. Life flows more smoothly. As I write this article it is mid-week — typically my office day where I answer emails, do accounting, run errands, work on my schedule, write, work on transcripts, classes, etc. Needless to say there is always a TON of work to do. Today I woke up however, and felt like making soup.
So after breakfast I drove to the local market to buy my veggies and then, back home again to chop them – corn, tomatoes, squash, onions, carrots, celery, basil, garlic, you name it. Everything yummy, colorful and good-smelling ended up in that pot. I was so filled with life after the chopping and dicing that I answered emails ten times faster than usual and got the scheduling well underway before I usually even begin to do it. Periodically while working on my computer, I went back to stir the pot, releasing wonderful aromas into the house. Funny, but all my boring chores seemed to fly by because I was thinking of that great soup. I even finished early and had time for a little R&R.
So just when you think your to-do list is going to do you in, try asking yourself, what do I WANT to do? Can I do that first? See what happens. You’ll be so energized and inspired, the chores will be much easier, you’ll be more efficient, and much happier as well. There IS time for everything, my dear friend and tai chi mentor Zeysan (www.templeofthetwindragons.com) reminds me all the time – if you are present in the moment! How true.
