Relaxation is built into my schedule. Every day, even if only for a few minutes, I take the time to do something deeply peaceful. It may be sitting and eating breakfast on the patio, walking through the yard, meditating, listening to the bird symphony in my trees, or as of late, watching live feeds of the volcano in Iceland – thoroughly enjoying the roaring woosh and the splendor of Mother earth giving birth.

In these moments of relaxation, I have no objective and no problems. I am in the present, appreciative, and enjoying the simple pleasures here and now. My breath calms. My body relaxes, and more often than not I feel the touch of my angels and the warmth of Divine heat flowing through my body.

The amount of time I spend relaxing matters less than the fact that I do it regularly. Some days I’m lucky to get a two-minute walk through my tiny garden, but even appreciating a ripening tomato, or smelling the pungent fragrance of fresh cilantro draws me deeply into the present. These moments become a point of calibration to deep, loving vibrational realities. Then when life’s challenges come, I remember more quickly and easily how to reach those spaces of peace.

When I found out I needed a large car repair a few weeks ago, the first thing I did was to breathe and relax. I gave thanks for the perfect timing. I gave thanks for my safety. I counted my blessings. It was all handled with only minor inconvenience. Bills come and go in the flow when I relax and trust in the flow of eternal love. All these years of watching the universe work have convinced me of the temporal nature of reality. I may as well enjoy the moments.

A dear one was recently diagnosed with a serious health issue. I didn’t waste a second feeling sorry for myself or them. I walked through the yard, felt the grass on my feet, enjoyed the roses, gave thanks for life and well-being, and then in that high-vibe space began to send energy, gaze, pray and envision them being guided to the best possible care. They are already well on their way back to normal.

Humorously, as I write this, I am sitting once again in the repair shop and just now found out I need another car repair. I breathed, settled into my chair in the lobby, and relaxed. I am grateful to be here in comfort where I can write the newsletter, gaze online with Braco, and work on other projects. What a blessed world we live in to have such conveniences!

I used to get upset over these things I once considered “interruptions to life.” I now see them as just part of life – opportunities to choose my vibe and therefore my experience of reality. Regular relaxation has trained me to handle these things with grace, faith, and trust that all is well.

Like many of us, I was raised in a culture that sent the unspoken message that relaxation was a luxury; that we can relax only when everyone else is taken care of, when the challenges were handled, when the house was clean, the dishes done, the bills paid, the calls returned, and when life looked peachy and perfect. No one actually said this, but it was a rare case when I saw someone relaxing when there were still things to be done

I’ll never forget the first time I witnessed the vibrational power of relaxation. I had planned to run errands with a friend. We both had busy schedules, and this seemed like a great way to connect. When I arrived at her house on Saturday morning, ready to go, she was taking her sweet time putting lunch together. So I chilled out and went along with her plan. We set a pretty table in her backyard, enjoyed meal prepping, and then relaxed for an hour while we chatted and ate. By the time we got in the car, there was no traffic, no crowds in the stores, and we whipped through the errands in flow – in relaxed yet record time.

We are, collectively, going through a huge paradigm shift on earth. Our first instinct when we have a challenge is often to analyze, think, act, and react. That just doesn’t work well anymore in these higher vibes streaming into our reality. Instead, the minute you have a challenge and catch your mind spinning, stop. Shift. Flow love. Get in a higher vibe. Breathe… Relax…

Your energy is your most precious asset – more valuable than money in the bank that will come and go based on your vibe. Your energy is more valuable than time because that will pass either productively or not, based on your vibe. Your energy is more important than validation from the world because the Love that sources you always wants to validate your light and goodness and you’ll feel it if you’re in a good vibe. There is nothing more important than doing the very simple but profoundly productive things that you can to keep your vibration in a higher space. Relaxation is one of the easiest once you train yourself to do it regularly.

Some say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but I’d argue that our minds, like an old dog, will still respond to what feels better. We can learn new habits, schedule a few minutes of relaxation into each day, and thus create new ways of responding to life. We can be the first wave of souls in which miracles become commonplace.

Breathe. Relax. The universe loves you.

Here are a few tips to help you relax on a more regular basis…

1. Take an Inner Vacation

We shower, brush our teeth, and eat our breakfast. We reach for the phone and check messages regularly. We fill up our cars and get the oil changed when needed. We clean our homes, call our friends, and do a gazillion things to maintain our possessions and the close relationships in our lives. It is logical that we can train ourselves into a new habit of taking a few minutes a day to maintain our mind and mood, and to elevate our spirit. The good news is that this type of maintenance is actually fun!

One of the angels’ suggestions is to take a little “Inner Vacation” on a regular basis, if not daily. Simply sit quietly, shut your eyes, and imagine a place that feels like paradise to you – a beach, a mountain stream, a forest, a cabin, a castle, on a snowy hill wrapped in a warm blanket watching the northern lights… any scenario that helps you feel fantastic will work. If you have trouble imagining, find a picture you have taken or a picture on the web that transports you and simply observe it and allow yourself to imagine being in the scene. Breathe. Relax. Be. Ask yourself, “How would I feel in such a place if I had nowhere to be, nothing to do, not a care in the world?” Luxuriate in those feelings.

2. Focus on one thing

An old trick to help you relax is to breathe slowly and deeply while watching anything with single-mind focus. For example, you can breathe deeply and stare into a candle flame, simply observing and allowing it to mesmerize and relax you. You can sit by a stream or watch a video of waves or running water. I’ve been watching the erupting volcano in Iceland as a sort of meditation with Mother nature.

You can stare at a rock, observe your hand, or choose anything and really focus on it, observe it, study it, and just “be” with it. This draws you into the present wherever you’re at and helps your entire being relax. Anxiety has a hard time competing with a mind present and intently focused on something else.

3.  If all else files, Hit the Reset button

If you just can’t relax or focus your mind on something intently, surrender and take a nap! Go to bed early.

There are times when the only thing that will help you relax and re-attune your energy is to reset yourself as surely as you would reset your phone or computer when the “spinning ball” cannot be stopped.

We are all working to shift our paradigm, to stop using the external world and others as an excuse to feel bad, and to reclaim our God-given power of focus. We are learning the power of presence and the incredible value of relaxation.

We are, slowly but surely, learning how managing our mind and our vibe is more important than spinning our wheels when faced with a challenge or a desire, because a high vibe allows the universe to work on our behalf, and inspires effective, uplifting action.

So, try this week to carve out time, if only a few minutes daily to begin practicing relaxation as a way to naturally, easily, and gracefully allow your vibe to rise.
