At first, realizing we are characters within the Divine mind can be horribly offensive to the ego. It is human nature to want to feel special, important, “better than,” more capable, more correct, and so on. The notion that we are all One love in different forms sometimes makes an individual feel less “real” or less “important.” In reality we are all real. We are all important.

As you experience the truth of our Unity – that we exist within God and God is within us – something beautiful begins to happen.

You begin to know that you are never alone or without guidance. You never have to solve your challenges by yourself. You are loved more than you can possibly imagine. Suddenly everyone is family. Suddenly, as the ego surrenders to the greater Truth of its unity with the Divine, you realize everyone else is you. You feel safer, more loved, more capable of creating change in your life.

The angels like to say, “We are as waves upon the ocean, seemingly separate only at the surface, but connected but a depth of love beyond comprehension. You can only imagine we are separate.”

I have had many experiences of this Oneness. In “Ann & the Angels, Series 7” I was teaching people to slip into these blissful realities while simultaneously knowing themselves as a unique and precious individual. I kept slipping into this Presence in the studio. It felt delicious beyond words. It was sometimes hard to speak in front of the camera and the studio was filled with light.

The real magic, however, happened in the airport on the way home. I felt only the Presence of the Divine looking through my eyes at itself in the thousands of people traveling, greeting, rushing, smiling, hugging, scowling, stressing… no exception. I felt the Presence of God looking through my eyes at itself in everyone else. Whether someone smiled or scowled, I felt only the euphoric bliss of unconditional love. My Ann-self became an observer, swimming in a magical world of connection.

Last weekend I was at the International Association for Near Death Studies conference, speaking as part of a panel. I had the privilege of hearing famous authors, doctors and scientists studying human consciousness, and nursers pioneering whole new nursing philosophies based on caring.

I got to meet scores of people who had died, gone into the light and come back to tell. In so many cases, they spoke of the feelings of being one with, or deeply connected with all of life in their experience beyond death. Often the feelings of love and connection were so strong they didn’t want to return to the limited experience of being in a human body. Nonetheless, they knew they must because their message about our unity and the constant presence of Love felt so important to share.

Here are a few ideas to help you shift into the blissful experience of Oneness, and to experience the love that is around us and in us at all times…

1. Either go to a beautiful place in nature or find a beautiful photo of nature on the Internet. Allow yourself to become “lost” in it

As you witness the beauty and majesty of nature – a sunset, a sunrise, the vastness of the ever-undulating ocean, or the sweet repose of a forest, you begin to return to your natural state of being. You begin to feel a part of something larger – an organism within an ecosystem.

You begin to feel the Presence of something very loving that created such beauty. You begin, as you witness the cyclical nature of nature, to feel eternity.

Just “be” with this beautiful scene. Just observe loosely, in a relaxed way. Let yourself “melt” into it for a few minutes. See how you feel.

2. Look into the eyes of the innocent – either a child, a dog, a precious soul – either in the physical or in a photo… or even your own in the mirror.

The eyes are the windows to the soul. As you quiet your mind and look either into your own eyes, or the eyes of another, something in you recognizes a presence that goes far beyond body, brain, or mind. The longer you are able to look in the eyes of another with a quiet mind, the more deeply you go into the mystery.

What looks through your eyes is looking back at you… just in a different form.

3.Listen to some inspiring music or chant a mantra and let yourself melt into it.

In ancient cultures, the shaman healers listened to a drumbeat and melted into it to enter other dimensions. In Hindu traditions there are mantras chanted over and over that induce a similar effect. In Christian traditions the monks chanted for hours to lose themselves in God.

I listen to Robin Miller’s “Dreams of Heaven” and float into these spaces.

Choose some music that inspires you and see if you can just allow your mind to drift with it, turning yourself into pure light, energy, or whatever it begins to present to you. Melt into the experience. It will transport you beyond the ordinary.

I know these are deep topics, and it is all to easy to want “practical” solutions to life’s challenges. I am an ex-electrical engineer who grew up within a scientific paradigm, and I love practical solutions!

The father I delve into the mystery however, the more I understand that the most practical thing we can do, is reconnect with love – one moment at a time. As we attune ourselves with love, we hear our guidance and feel good about ourselves. Challenges are elegantly solved. Opportunities present themselves and what we call “miracles” become a natural way of life.
