The Meaning of Colors - Color Symbolism

I could drink color! It fills my soul, enlivens me, soothes me, and uplifts me. I use it to charge up and to go to sleep, to help heal and calm.

After all, colors are what we see when our brain interprets a spectrum of energy frequencies.  Each frequency, or color is a unique energy and affects us differently.

Reds have longer wavelengths while violets and the cooler colors have shorter ones.  There are colors we can’t see – energies that are just outside the visible spectrum that affect us nonetheless. We have “infared” saunas, and “ultraviolet lights,” for example.  Some animals see colors we cannot, and I have  heard from the people in heaven that the colors there are unimaginable, radiant with light and beyond human description.

Many studies have been done to determine how colors affect our moods. Mystics have studied what the colors in our auras mean, while shamans and healers have experimented with how colors can be used as healing energy.

Here you’ll find some color ideas to experiment with in your own life. While these are fairly common definitions for the color, trust your own instincts if a different interpretation resonates with you in the moment. And above all… have a color-filled life!
