Sedona, Arizona - Dining & Restaurants

Let's Eat!

After a wonderful day of hiking or sightseeing you can't help but crave delicious and healthy food.

Although I'm no restaurant critic, and I certainly haven't been to all the fine establishments in Sedona, I do like to eat. Here are some of my favorite dining experiences in red rock country.

Hope you enjoy them too!

And PS - I'll tell you where to put together a great picnic lunch or dinner for your scenic outings!

utensils Oak Creek Brewery and Pub
Fine Spirits & Great Food with a View
The Oak Creek Brewery and Pub is located in the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village within the gorgeous Red Rocks of Sedona. Their gold medal winning beers are brewed on site and their mesquite fired grill produces fantastically flavored pizzas, cedar planked fish and Angus steaks.

Coffee Pot Restaurant
The Breakfast Gathering Place

Coffee Pot Restaurant is the favorite breakfast gathering place for visitors and locals alike. The atmosphere is casual and there is a wide variety of choices, among them the Famous 101 Omelets. I prefer the buckwheat pancakes with blueberries on top, but then again the bacon and eggs are always good too. Why not have them all! I do. The coffee will keep on pouring.

Located on west 89A on the north side of the road just past the light at Coffee Pot Drive. 520-282-6626

New Frontiers Health Food Store & Deli
A Personal Favorite for a quick, inexpensive lunch

New Frontiers has recently expanded into a larger location and now you can buy all sorts of health food goodies here from either the store or the deli. For a picnic lunch pack one of their fine organic sandwiches such as the Vortex Veggie or one of the many grain salads. Throw in a Sobe drink to give you a boost, and off you go. Don't let the 'health' label scare you away from the deli deserts -- the are so good you'll hardly believe they're not bad for you!

Located on West 89A on the north side of the road next to the Flicker Shack cinema.

Desert Flour Bakery
Perfect Place to Purchase a Picnic

You cannot go wrong, no matter what you order at Desert Flour Bakery! For decadence and flavor try their breads, pastries, and wonderful coffee concoctions. My favorite non-diet special is a hot chai tea and a chocolate croissant.

Or, if you would like a healthful dining experience (although I would call chocolate croissants healthy, many would disagree!) try their freshly made sandwiches on specialty breads along with a flavorful fruit drink. On the lighter side, their homemade pasta salads are also excellent. If you pick up a picnic lunch or breakfast here you will have a gourmet meal in your backpack for a very small price.

There are two Desert Flour Bakeries, one on highway 179 on the west side of the road just south of Castle Rock Road in Oak Creek, and one on the north side of West 89A just before you reach the light at Dry Creek Road. 520-204-9221 or 520-284-4633

The Javalina Cantina
Mexican with a View -- I LOVE this one

This is one of my personal favorites places to eat. Great food. Awesome view. What more could you ask? Fun and funky, the Javalina Cantina offers awesome Mexican food at reasonable prices and a a great view of the red rocks. Dine on the patio next to the fountain, or inside in their colorful booths. Sip a margarita, or munch on chips, then have fun designing your meal! Try their blackened sea scallop salad for a lighter meal, or their Rocky Point Fish Tacos (totally delicious) or for something new and amazing their grilled chicken and vegetable burrito. Mmm. I'm getting hungry...

Located in the Uptown shops on highway 179 just south of the "Y" and south around the bend from Tlaquepaque. 520-203-9514

The Hideaway
Fine Italian Food in a Romantic Creekside Setting

If you want a sweet place to enjoy the creek and eat, try The Hideaway. By day you'll have a gorgeous view of the red rocks over Oak Creek, and by night you can dine outdoors with the sound of the water rushing below and the wind singing through the trees.

Their classic Italian food is always yummy. Try the lasagne (either meat or vegetarian), their signature spaghetti, or better yet, their diet buster pizza! No matter what you order, you'll savor every taste. Turn right off 179 into the parking lot about 50 yards prior to the "Y" and walk to the back. Or call 520-282-4204 for better directions. For a romantic, yet casual outdoor setting, The Hideaway can't be beat.

Heartline Cafe
Healthy Elegance

Heartline is a beautifully appointed restaurant serving deliciously healthy food. This isn't the place to go after a hike. . . unless you've showered first. It is a nice place to enjoy a tasty romantic meal.

Located on West 89A on the north side of the road between the lights at Solider Pass Road and Mountain Shadows Road. 520-282-0785

Judi's Restaurant and Lounge
Delicious Homemade Meals in a Casually Elegant Atmosphere

Judi's is another popular spot with the locals. Try their famous baby back ribs for dinner, or order the delicious pasta or one of their many other flavorful dishes. Dine inside in an elegant but casual setting, or sit outdoors under the stars and next to the flowers. I hear lunch is great here too.

Located on the Northeast corner of West 89A and Soldier Pass Road. 520-2282-4449

Knotty Pine Cafe at Junipine
Tasty Food when You're up the Creek

Junipine is a beautiful resort along the creek and their restaurant is cozy, inviting, and airy. Wood flooring and a casual atmosphere make you feel comfortable while you dine on flavorful meals. The menu is scrumptious and if you like, you can sit outside on the patio and enjoy the fresh air. A perfect place to stop for a cup of hot tea after a nice hike, or for a nicer dinner after you clean up a bit. Or better yet sip a cup of coffee on the patio and have a civilized breakfast heare after a night of camping.

Located along Oak Creek (north 89A) on the west side of the road in the Junipine Resort. 520-2282-7406

Orchards Grill and Restaurant
Healthy, Flavorful Gourmet -- A Personal Favorite

I love Orchards! They let you dine whether you're all dressed up or just back from a hike and the service is always the same. The menu changes but everything I've ever had there is flavorful, healthy, and delicious. Entrees such as salmon in a puff pastry with dijon dill sauce, southwestern chicken with black bean salsa, and whole wheat pasta with roasted vegetables to name a few, have tantalized my palette many a late night. Even though this is not budget food, you ought to try Orchards one at least once during your stay. You will not be disappointed!

Located on North 89A in the uptown shops, on the east side of the road. 520-282-7200

Red Planet Diner
Comfort Food, Healthy Food, Any food -- A Personal Favorite

As I write these web pages, Red Planet is my latest after-hike favorite. I'm hooked on their "Planet X Turkey Platter" -- a stick-to-your-ribs comfort meal if I ever had one! You can order burgers, traditional diner food (that is untraditionally tasty), oriental rice and noodle bowls, and delicious shakes or malts. I've never had room for desert but they look delicious. Say hi to Wendy if you go. She runs an awesome restaurant and is a talented artist as well!

And PS - Check out the other-wordly art on the ceiling!

Located on West 89A on the south side of the road just east of Mountain Shadows/Northview Dr. 520-282-6070

Sedona Fudge Factory
Oh So Very Sweet

No visitor to Sedona should leave without sampling one of the many heavenly fudges at the Famous Sedona Fudge Factory. If you're lucky they'll be making the fudge when you arrive and the sweet smell of raspberry chocolate may be wafting through the air. I can down half a pound on my own. You'll love it! You can even sample one the many fine flavors. Do not miss out on this prime opportunity for fine chocolate dining!

Located in the uptown shops on North 89A on the west side of the road.
