Sedona, Arizona Hiking - Cockscomb

Cockscomb is a nice 400 foot climb to the top of the southernmost butte in Sedona. You will be rewarded with a 360 degree panoramic view of the west Sedona wilderness. Finding the trail can be a bit challenging at first, but if you persist, you'll be glad you did!

Cockscomb From the parking spot, hike along the fence for about one third of a mile and then turning inward towards the butte. You can usually follow the cairns (piles of rocks) uphill to the top along a zig zag trail. At the top you can wander out along the rock ledges for incredible views. You will almost certainly be alone or one of the few people up here, so bring a good book, a journal, or simply take a nap in the warm sun on top of this beautiful viewpoint.
