Sedona, Arizona Sunsets - Airport Mesa

Airport Mesa is such an easy place to access and the views are well-worth the very short climb (less than five minutes). You can bring a picnic dinner and watch the sun dip into the western horizon or you can meditate on the edge of the rock and see if you can tap into the vortex energy here. I feel like this rock really 'turns on' after sunset when the energy begins to hum. The wind kicks up after sunset so in cooler weather wear a jacket or bring a blanket. For a real treat, lay back on the rocks and stay until the stars come out.

Or, if you're an early riser, climb the knoll for spectacular sunrise views. Even if you don't usually awaken before the sun, you might give it a try. The colors are so vibrant and as the sun creeps up in the sky you can practically feel the earth's gratitude. Then when you're done, head on over to Coffee Pot restaurant for breakfast and try one of their 101 omelets!

Directions:	From Phoenix, take I-17 north to Hwy 179 (exit 298). Turn left onto 179 and follow it past the Village of Oak Creek to the Sedona (Burger King) "Y". Turn left at the "Y" onto West 89A. Watch for Airport Road to the left and when you see it, turn left onto it! Drive just a few minutes up the road and look for the dirt parking lot pulloff to the left. Hike up the short trail to the mesa to your left for the best views.

Supplies:	Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a camera, a picnic dinner, and something warm in cooler weather!
