Kauai Hiking - Sleeping Giant Trail |

 You can't help but enjoy this pleasant hike which zig zags up Sleeping Giant mountain through mostly shaded forest areas. You will climb 1000 feet to the top where you'll enjoy beautiful views of the Wailua river down below, the eastern coast of Kauai and the interior of the island.  If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of Mt. Wai ale ale crater, even though most of the time it is enshrouded by clouds.
Stop at the picnic tables near the top and enjoy a shaded rest, or if you are very sure-footed, you can hike onward via a brief but very precarious trail onto the Sleeping Giant's face! Be careful not to slip if you try this. The trail is extremely narrow in parts.

Take Hwy. 56 to Haleilio Road which is south of the Coconut Plantation Marketplace and north of Lydgate State park. Turn inland up this road and follow it till it starts to turn left a little. You'll see a small parking area to the right with the trailhead on the right side of the parking area.
