Kauai Special Places - Limahouli Stream |

 Just before you reach Ke'e beach you will see the entrance to the Limahuli Gardens. I hear they are very beautiful and offer both guided and self-guided botanical tours. However, one of my favorite stops is just beyond and to the left where a small concrete bridge crosses the road. Here you will find Limahuli stream, a magical spot if I've ever seen one.
In the mornings the light makes the water green, but as the day progresses the stream turns as black as obsidian. This is a perfect place to cleanse yourself both inside and out. Wash off after swimming in the salty ocean rinse yourself in the refreshing waters for spiritual/emotional purification. Don't miss this brief but refreshing stop.

Take Hwy. 56 north all the way past the town of Hanalei. Just after you pass Limahouli Gardens on the left hand side, near the end of the road, you will see a small stream. Stop here and hop in!
