Hanalei valley is pure magic. Everything seems to grow here and you'll see why if you decide to stop and have a look. In the early mornings the rain rolls in over the mountains in huge, puffy white clouds. Rainbows dance over the Hanalei bay area and in the mountains behind while the moisture collects and pours off the grassy cliff sides in huge trickling waterfalls.
At the Hanalei Valley overlook you can see the clouds and mountains that feed the Hanalei river and the valley down below. Many of the farms you see below, grow tarot, an ancient Hawaiian root crop that can be used to make the local dish called poi, a mashed potato-like substance, that truthfully is as good for you as it tastes bad! Of course, that's a matter of opinion and maybe I just haven't tasted good poi quite yet! In any case I'm sure you'll enjoy the view.
